User Experience Writing
App reviews and user research revealed that Ornament’s users often felt frustrated or confused due to unclear instructions. After discussing with the design and user experience teams, I suggested that we rework the microcopy and user onboarding experiences to better guide users throughout core app journeys.
During this ongoing process, we also launched new app features such as the Ornament Wiki, applying our new standards throughout the project.
User Onboarding
We needed a new process to help users who were interacting with Ornament for the first time. Gathering basic information, alerting users to features, and covering our data safety protocols were major priorities. I created and edited microcopy to encourage clarity and get users accustomed to terms used throughout the app.
Ornament Wiki
Parsing medical information is difficult. To help, we implemented a database of various biomarkers that’s easily searchable and contains useful information. This project is constantly expanding with additional biomarkers, but we started with the most common terms first.
To make the user experience as easy as possible, the Wiki needed to be:
Easy to search
Well organized
Consistent
After many rounds of revisions, we developed a template for each biomarker with clear headers and consistent formatting. Users can quickly find the information they’re interested in without wasting time on the rest.
What’s New Messaging
Ornament’s app is constantly receiving feature updates and bug fixes, so we wanted a way to keep users in the know without damaging their experience. The copy and design needed to be straightforward without standing in the way of people who just wanted to keep moving forward.
